About 2025 Fall Field Hockey with Pioneer Youth Field Hockey

 The Fall program will run August 25th, 2025 through October 18/19th, 2025  (no practices will be held Monday Sept 1st (Labor Day) and no practices Wednesday September 24th during the Lampeter fair. 

Practices will be every Monday and Wednesday night from 5:30-7:00pm for 1/2, 3/4 and 5/6. The Kindergarten crew will be 530-6:40pm.   

All Practices will be at the Martin Meylin junior high field hockey field. These practices provide fundamental skills, small sided games, hockey knowledge, while teaching age appropriate competition.  

We ask that all players get to the field between 5:15 pm and 5:30 pm for warm up and free play. We start right at 5:30 pm so we don't lose time or the light as the season goes on.

Rec and Travel Teams:

Kindergarten: Players participate in the Kindergarten Crew program play 

recreational practices Monday and Wednesday - they do not play in the travel league on the weekends, as they do not benefit from playing against other K-1-2 players. from other schools at this age. Keeping them focused on practice helps them love hockey and friends - they will play games when they get to 1-2 levels.

1-2 Teams:

1st Graders that have an interest or are physically or skillfully ready can join our 2nd graders to play in the 1-2 Playdays that are around the league. We play in 4 play days where the girls play 2 games that last 20-30 minutes on 4 days from Sept to mid-Oct.

3-4th Grade Teams:

3/4 teams will be made into balanced teams for our travel play day league. We will group teams and play in 5 play days where we will get 2 games a day that last 40-45 minutes.  We will be trying to keep friends on similar teams for the playdays.  We may have a chance to ask our players to play additional home and away games during the season, we will notify you in advance of the season of the dates.

5th and 6th Grade Teams:

5/6 teams will play in the Playday league and will be organized into a A and B team. The A team plays teams in the league that have the most experience playing hockey or physical development and the B division will match newer players or players working to develop their skills as they move towards 7th/8th grade middle school play.  Our coaches will designate teams and both teams will play 2 games at each play day event for a total of 8-10 league games.We may have a chance to ask our players to play additional home and away games during the season, we will notify you in advance of the season of the dates.

Play Dates Overview:  We will play 4 play dates for 1-2 team, and 5 play dates for 3/4 and 5/6 with other youth teams from Lancaster. All play dates are on Saturdays in September and October. All girls will get to play 1-2 games at each event. 

(Note: We don't do playdays for the K Crew. They don't need that stress - your coach will explain!)

• Shin Guards
• Mouth Guard
• Water Bottle & Light Snack
• Appropriate athletic attire & footwear
